This is our story, this is the story of a meeting between two families
Year 1974, Peppino Di Capri sang "Champagne" and the then twenty-eight year old Michele, third son of Beniamino Placido and Maria Iazzetti, starred alongside Ugo Tognazzi and Ornella Muti in "popular novel", directed by Mario Monicelli... Domenico, twenty-one years old , worked in the fields under the guidance of his father Rocco. It was summer, the two very numerous families spent days together in the countryside of Ascoli Satriano, at Masseria Volpone. Thus the two boys formed a deep friendship. In that year Mimmo transplanted grandfather Domenico's ancient stocks. Michele, who had meanwhile become one of the most requested actors in Italy and abroad, reached his friend as soon as possible and thus returned to savor the scents of his land. The fruits of our land are grown in the area of ancient Herdonia, the first hill on the Tavoliere delle Puglie, the sunniest, driest, windiest area in mainland Italy at the same time. The wine, son of generations of farmers and artists, is the product of winemaking with ancient techniques and cutting-edge equipment. Tradition and continuous innovation, this is the path that "Placido Volpone" follows. The company is located near the ancient city of Herdonia, an archaeological area with the remains of the city, inhabited by one from the 4th-3rd century BC. and particularly important Roman municipium because it is the crossing point between the via Traiana, via Eclanense and via per Venosa. Legend has it that Diomedes, the winner of the Trojan War, brought with him vine shoots from Asia Minor to Puglia which he planted here, thus giving life to the story of our most prestigious wine, Nero di Troia.
